My grandmothers' names were Gladys and Opal. I never met Opal-- she was killed in an auto accident when my father was a teenager. His stepmother Alva was my subsititute grandmother.BTW, Gladys was married to Freeman.

I had a grandmother Marjorie.You just reminded me of this great poem I read once that lamented the loss of names like these. It was awesome. I think I saved it somewhere.

Me grammas were Martha & Ella. Me great-grandma was Ida. Me mum is Shirley & her sisters who are all in their 70s now had some great names: Ruth, Betty, Goody (real name Pauline), Mildrid & Phyllis

You know, Mexican girls frequently have old lady names. I have had students named Edith, Eunice, Doris, and Alma.Weird, huh?
Krista's Grandmother was named "Millicent." But everybody called her "Millie." I thought it was a pretty good name for a grandmother.
