Rental car: Saturn Ion with a CD player.
Miles driven: 3,542
States visited: Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Regular Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine.
Weather: Varied, but nice for the most part. I was able to walk around Manhattan in just a sweater, which was pleasant.
Countries visited: Canada (Ontario)
Sights seen: A bunch of Amish people in a supermarket - Lagrange, IN. National Football Hall Of Fame (just the gift shop), Johnny Applecheese Market, the famed "Tiki Bar", and Wm. McKinley's gravesite - Canton, OH. Monticello, UVA campus, and my dad's girlfriend (not that she's a sight, but this is the first time I've met a girlfriend of my dad's, so it warranted mentioning) - Charlottesville, VA. Some bar in Charlotte NC that had $1 PBR's and $1 pizza slices. Big-ass war machines, The historic Page House Inn, and one of the best video rental places I've ever seen - Norfolk, VA. Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Times Square, Central Park, blah blah blah - NYC, NY. A bunch of pretty shit - Maine. Niagara Falls - New York/Ontario.
Random observations:
-People in Virginia don't understand the concept that the left lane is for passing (Sorry, Megan). Even in North Carolina, the four people I passed on the right all had Virginia plates.
-The best barbers are in the south.
-People in the south love waffles almost as much as people in the northeast love donuts.
-New York City cab drivers like to yell.
-People who blog are among the friendliest people out there.
I'm sure there's more I'll think of. I'll also answer questions if y'all have any...

Thank goodness you are back... and safely. I don't know about those "friends" of yours...
Sounds like a fun trip, and like you got to visit many places that you haven't already (I stalked you and took a look at your personal site, you talented fish-carving, road-tripping guy, you!)
Welcome back Chris.
What do you think of Niagra Falls for a Honeymoon site (in summer, of course)?
a. kitschy and fun
b. decrepit and depressing
Amy- Thanks! And thanks for visiting my personal site. That's what it's there for. For those of you that haven't looked, it's linked on the side and will teach you more than you could ever care to know about me.
Vikki- The falls themselves are impressive, but I don't really know what else there'd be to do there besides look at them in awe and then wonder what next. Granted, I was in and out pretty quick and most of the surrounding stuff looked closed. It looked like there were casinos nearby. Why, are you planning something we need to know about? Do tell!
I lived in Northern Virginia for four years (collectively) and the roads out there are crazy. The signs are a joke and nobody knows how to merge. I don't know what their problem is!
I have a question: You were walking around Manhattan in just a sweater, so not wearing pants is OK there?
Flannery- I got a few looks, but most people were cool with it. I can't tell you how free I felt being bottomless at the Staue of Liberty. Kind of like that scene from the movie "Splash"...
Welcome back. Welcome back. Welcome back. I completely disagree with your opinion of bloggers. I've always assumed bloggers were total assclowns in real life. Assclowns with hooved feet.
you were in NJ and didn't stop by my place?
I'm hurt...
can't believe you visited so many states and so many different places. Sounds like a blast.
Damn you.. I can't believe that I get no Christmas now.. I'm crestfallen.. That's a word you don't hear often enough.. You know that?
*Sob*
"New York City cab drivers like to yell." Oh yeah. Big time.
Hey you made it to the east! Good for you! I hope you had a great time in NYC--did you drive in the city? If you, you are one brave guy!
It sounds like you had a great time. I'm so glad, Chris. You've got great memories. Now share pictures please!!
Welcome back!
B.O.- Thanks a lot for crushing my belief that it WAS Hannah.
Grant- Assclowns with hooved feet are people too, you know.
Teri- Next time, I promise...
Boob Lady- The guilt I feel is palpable. I may have to schedule another east-coast swing.
Zed- Thanks! Yes, I did drive in Manhattan, but I must have timed it well because it was pretty painless. I made it to the Linclon Tunnel without any back-ups. I have Chicago driving expeerience, so it wasn't a huge shock.
Plus, being pantsless gave you an advantage, I'm sure.
No, not planning anything. I'm a two-time loser, so I doubt I'll ever do that again.
A friend of mine is all set on the Niagra Falls honeymoon idea.
