...besides, of course, my family and friends:
Canfield's 50/50 (even though I no longer drink pop.)
Kick ass live music venues like the Double Door (above), the Vic, the Riv, the Green Mill, and many others.
Driving on Lake Shore Drive (sans traffic).
Dive bars with Old Style signs in the window.
Fannie May Pixies.
and Tommy "Skillet-head" Skilling.

Frank- Read the first line of the post, brainiac.
Except for driving on Lake Shore Drive, I'm clueless about Chicago. Nice to see Fannie Mae is now giving away chocolate at the time of loan approvals. :)
I, uh, hate to tell you this, Chris-- Fannie Mae went out of business a couple of years ago.
However, Margie's Candies has opened up in the old one on Montrose and Ravenswood. Yum.
I don't know if you heard-- Macy's bought Field's and changed the name. That sucks.
PS
Saw Billy Bragg at the Double Door in March. Great show!
Johnny- I knew Fannie May went away for a while, but I thought they came back. If not, that sucks.
Billy Bragg at the Double Door must've been awesome! I saw Reverend Horton Heat there once and they rocked!
Fannie May did come back. Go to their website and order yourself some pixies already. Enjoy!
mmmm.... 50/50....!!
I would miss Soldier Field...Walter was my favourite player when I was a kid. Did you see him play?
Genn- I did get to see Walter play. When I was a kid, he was pretty much the only thing worth watching at a Bear game. He was a class act.
I miss the Frango mints... but I heard they're gone, too.
Mostly, I just miss my friends and our favorite bar - Neighbors, which is not famous, and that's how we like it.
Oh, and the only good McDonald's seem to be within driving distance of Oakbrook.
p.s.
I read through a couple of your Chicago bloggers, and I decided I miss other people's friends in Chicago, too! Meaning, there's something about that town and the culture / people that stuck after living there from 1975 to 2000! (Absolutely NOTHING stuck from my 4 year sentence in New England!)
yay! I saw Walter play an away-game against the Browns once. What a big heart for such a small man...
I just read yours and Frank's comments...that's hysterical! "Shit" from Chicago, Frank, "Shit!"
