Are You The Type Of Person...

Are you the type of person who sometimes substitutes the word "orifice" for the word "office"? For instance, would you ever tell someone you had to stop by the "post orifice"? Do you find it oddly amusing?

Yeah, me too.

It's really not very amusing. It's pretty juvenile, actually. It's most certainly less hip than saying "I'd tap dat."

From now on, don't pay any attention to the things I say, OK?

Chris, I cannot promise what you ask. Sometimes, your blog is the funniest thing I see all day. Okay, not when you substitute the word "orifice" for "office," but at other, funnier times.

Isn't orifice the archaic equivalent of office?

What, does it mean something else?

A friend of mine grew up in Lockport, Illinois. Every year, the town held a weekend celebration called "Canal Days." One night during "Canal Days" my friend went around and spraypainted over the letter "C" on all the signs around town. The next day, Locport residents celebrated "anal Days" instead of "Canal Days."

Both words are the Latin root words for butthole.

Is that a Michigan thing? Here in Ohio I catch a lot of people pronouncing toilet at tour-let and wash as warsh, but those words aren't funny like orifice is.

In June of 1979, right before I graduated high school, I was at a Cubs/Dodgers game at Wrigley. The Dodgers had a center fielder named Roland Office. There were like 50 people in the bleachers and one of them was one of the old Bleacher Bums. He was merciless-- he heckled Office through the whole game, calling him "Orifice." I actually felt sorry for him (Office, not the Bleacher Bum, though maybe I should have)
