I'm Back (Sort Of)...

Greetings! This is my first ever post from a remote location, so I feel a little off-kilter. I'm at my mom's en route back to Michigan. The bachelor party was a lot of fun and I should be back to my old blogging self tomorrow. One question for the day to keep you busy until I'm back in full force - why is making one's bed so important to some people? It's never made any fucking sense to me. I get up. My blankets are strewn this way and that. What the crap does it matter if, during the day while I'm gone, my bed looks messy? No one will see it. Doesn't it seem unnecessary to spend time tightly tucking in sheets and such just to have to untuck them later? I'm just asking...

Oh, and go Bears!

It seems silly, except for this: at the end of a long day, I like to climb into a well-made bed. Something about my sheets and blankets being in a tangle makes me depressed. And bedtime is the worst time for me to start feeling depressed.

I am SO with you on this one.

For me, I think it's more important that the bed is "aired" while no one is in it than for it to be made up for NO ONE TO SEE. If you make up the bed immediately, the entire airing process is lost--

Need more reasons not to make the bed? I've got dozens! Let me know :)

Why should you make your bed? Because you just should, that's why.

That's the best story you could come up with after a weekend bachelor party. Lame.

You shouldn't make your bed, you should turn the covers and sheets down and let them air out. Your body loses an amazing amount of moisture at might and if you make the bed right away, you trap all of that moisture and it breeds funk and makes your bedding smell.

I try to untangle my sheets and blankets, because I don't like coming home to a mess, but I only make my bed if I have company, and even then, if it is a friend, I will probably leave the bed unmade.

Obviously you are not afflicted with obsessive-compulsive tendencies.

I'm with Flannery on the pleasure of crisp, smoothed-out sheets. Plus, if your bed is made it makes everything look neat and tidy.

It's making me a little freaked out just knowing your bed isn't made. . .

I used to hate that mommy rule, too ... until I discovered how much fresher the sheets feel when the bed has been made. Maybe I should have been a mommy ...
