I have a buddy named Guido. I've mentioned him a lot. He's the guy that I drove around the U.S. and Canada with for five months. He's the one that has the restaurant in Chicago. Here he is doing his best Willem Dafoe impression in Fort Worth, TX. He and I have been friends since sixth grade. Saturday, he is getting married. I was honored to be asked to stand up with him.
Guido is one of those people that I can feel 100% at ease around. We talk at least once a week despite the fact that I now live 300 miles away. He makes me gut-laugh (a lot tougher task than you'd think). He is also skilled at deep, intellectual discussions. He was that guy in high school that everyone knew and you either liked him or couldn't stand him. We have shared a lot of great times. I wish him and his fiance, Heidi, a lifetime of happiness.
They are going to have their ceremony outside. In November. In Michigan. I'm interested to see how that goes...

That's a cool photo.
Will the bride and groom be wearing matching parkas? I hope you will give us a full report from the red carpet, Chris. Tell us who's wearing what.
I still can't get over the fact that the guy's name is actually Guido.
And yeah, that's gonna be cold.
Although I haven't known Guido as long as Chris, I can attest that 1) It is his legal name 2) He is the kind of friend you want, the salt of the earth.
