It had cool pictures of animals and shit. Well, it didn't have pictures of actual shit. I meant that it had pictures of animals AND OTHER THINGS. You probably figured that out, though.

I would only read this while waiting for the dentist. I liked to find out how big of a lame-ass Gallant was in each issue.

This came free with your Cub Scout membership. I never read any of the articles, but I WAS intrigued by the ads in the back claiming you could build your own hovercraft out of an old vacuum cleaner motor and ride it to school. I bet it was bullshit.

Swank,huh. Rogall's Smokeshop?
Oh yeah, I used to get Ranger RIck as well, I thought I was so cool
Ranger Rick was pretty fabulous. I remember my brother getting it. I don't remember him getting Swank though, just Playboy.
Nice choices, especially the Swank.
I had a subscription to Highlights. I loved that shit. . .
I actually loved Boys Life-- I always beelined to the section about boyscouts saving people. And I lived for Mad Magazine. I loved the movie satires, though in a lot of cases I didn't see the movies until years later-- I'd then get the jokes.
I still remember bits from MAD but like Johnny, half the time I didn't know what they were talking about. Same thing with Swank. But I found out.
I used to get Dynamite magazine.
My kids get Boys Life and rarely read it.
I loved Highlights... I liked the puzzles where you had to find things.
My favorite part about MAD was the very last page that you had to fold.
I read Highlights at the dentist's office too. Such an awesome mag.
wow, was there some sort of thang going on with dentist's office and "Highlights"?? I mean, that's the ONLY place I EVER saw it as a kid. Gallant was a completely boring turd-- I'll betcha HE never got no pussy in college.
As for Swank-- do you still subscribe??
Actually, MAD is still pretty funny. Amy, I too was a Dynamite reader!
