A Bullshit Adage...

You can't tell me "A watched pot never boils". Of course it does! Remember, you have to turn the stove on, dummy!

Sure, it might seem like it's taking forever, but eventually it'll boil, whether you watch it or not. I guarantee it.

I suppose the pot itself doesn't boil. I don't know if most stovetops can get that hot. But if we're talking about what's IN the pot - water, for instance - yeah, that'll boil.

There's an episode of Star Trek Next Gen in which Data conducts experiments to determine if a watched pot boils slower than an unwatched pot.

Yeah, I'm a geek - what's your point?

Brilliant! You should tackle the whole "tree falling in the forest" conundrum next.

And can you figure out that whole "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" thing? Thanks.

Perhaps you can mix up a couple of things at once, for example:

Looks like he is talking out of the other side of his foot in the mouth.

I've watched a pot of water boiling. It's kind of like meditation, only more boring.

That's a good point, that the pot itself doesn't boil. My roommate and I made our own similar adage once when we were waiting for food to be delivered and it took forever: "A watched driveway never grows wings."
