The Dump...

Don't worry. This post isn't about poo.

I get to take a truckload of crap to the dump today. Whee!

It's always a great feeling for me to purge a bunch of unnecessary shit from my life. It brings back memories of when I drove a garbage truck for a suburban park district. It was one of those little garbage trucks and looked like this:

It was actually a pretty cushy assignment. The two of us assigned to garbage detail were autonomous and could go where we wanted. We could usually hit every park before lunch. Since I was driving, I could drive up alongside a piece of trash in the middle of a park and make sure it was on the shotgun side so that my partner would have to get out and pick it up. When the truck was full, we'd make the long drive out to the dump. Granted, coming into contact with garbage juice each day was a little unpleasant, but overall it was a nice summer job.

To me one of the coolest things about living in the country would be visiting the dump, or just burning anything you want to get rid of in a big barrel.

Thank you for not discussing poo.

That sounds like a sweet job. I love jobs that involve driving.

Hey, it must have been a great job-- you got to work outdoors, and got all you could eat...

(that was stolen from one of my high school teachers)

I had a summer job AT the dump! Driving a big loader up over the trash piles and covering everything with dirt. It was pretty cool, the only bad thing I remember is when a deer exploded under my tracks and kind of covered me and the loader.

I'm still sad this post isn't about poop.

I'm not seeing that green plaid couch anywhere in that pile of junk.

i had a gig with the school district and i liked riding along to the dump...it was far away and i was getting paid to sit on a truck.

yes, the dump has the foulest, nastiest stench ever, but it's not that hard to breathe through a t-shirt.

Vikki and Flannery - Chris doesn't actually have a green plaid couch. That couch is just, like, his dream couch. Shudder to think.

Megan: So you both keep saying.
