Next Time, Try This...

Last night, I did something I rarely do . I completely avoided Dum-dum's speech. I also avoided any pre- or post-speech analysis.

This morning, I feel fresh and clean. The air tastes sweeter and despite the gray clouds, it's sunny in my heart. It took me this long to realize that he's gonna give the same infuriating speech he's given for the last five years no matter what the current situation is.

Now, if I can only resist the urge to read about it on the intro-nets this morning. That will be a true test of my will.

I've been doing that for years now. Amazing isn't it?

I usually just read the text the next day in the paper. You know what he's going to say long before he says it anyway.

I don't think I've ever watched one of his speeches. He infuriates me, so why bother!

At least the formal "speeches" are written for him, so there is some semblance of proper sentence structure and words of more than one syllable (even though the content is trash). It's his impromptu speaking that sends me into fits of despair and embarrassment. I am mystified by how this dolt became president in the first place, and HOW THE HOLY HELL he was then re-elected!

I enjoyed the part of his speech when he started singing "Black Boys" from Hair.

But, is there a spring to your step? That is the true litmus test to avoiding GW.

I also have been ignoring his speeches for years. I think that trying to process what he says actually consumes sanity, and I don't have the sanity to spare.

LOL!
I did exactly the same thing, for exactly the same reason. :)
It's liberating, isn't it?

Unless he does his usual miscues and flubs, I don't pay any attention to his speeches. Even the most hardcore right-winger would be hard pressed to hear Shrubby say something worthwhile or different.

The problem with reading the text the next day, at least from the official White House transcripts, is that they change the transcript to edit out any of his gaffes.

But I know what you mean about skipping the televised version. Missing one of his speeches lowers your blood pressure by 10 points.

I'm like you. I just can't watch anymore.

I'm with you on this one. I can't stand to watch him either. He makes me nervous! I can't get that Andy Dick skit out of my mind where he's feeding W his lines!
In the photo for this post-it looks like W's saying "heh, heh!"
