...but I can also appreciate narrative films with great performances. I just got through watching three films I'm sure many of you have seen by now. I liked each of them.
The first was a movie called Milk (or as I like to call it, "Melk"). I had already seen the Oscar-winning documentary The Times Of Harvey Milk, so I knew a lot of the story. Sean Penn was excellent.
The next one was The Wrestler. I hadn't seen any trailers or clips from it before I watched it and it wasn't what I had anticipated. I thought it was great - very sad - and Mickey Rourke was outstanding.
Lastly, I watched Doubt. Again, this film was full of wonderful performances. I think this Meryl Streep person might have a bright future in acting if she keeps working at it. She was phenomenal. As my friend likes to say, she's so good, she could believably play a fourteen-year-old boy.

Melk, The Rassler and Dowt. Nice choices.
All good ones. I liked Doubt way more than I expected.
I have yet to see "Milk" though it's on my list. My severe Sean Penn hate slows this process down some. I loved "The Wrestler" though and Mad Mickey Rourke was indeed great. As for Meryl, I haven't seen "Doubt" yet but my mom made me watch "Mama Mia" a while back and I believe I actually touched the screen and said "Meryl....WHY????"
I haven't seen any of them, yet. Never enough time!
Saw the stage production of Doubt at the Seattle Rep ... so no need for the movie.
I agree about The Wrestler and Rourke was perfect.
Milk, not interested.
Basically I don't have much interest in most movies.
Saw #1 and #3 recently and I agree. I have this strange fascination with Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Kind of like picking a scab, it's sort of disturbing but in a fun way.
I saw them all and still managed to like "The Hangover" the best.
They're all in my Netflix queue.
I've watched them all and feel the same way. All terrific in their own right.
Boy was Meryl hot-looking in that role or what???? We're talking serious wood here...
I don't watch movies enough. I will remember these and join the living.
Another subject - tonight my daughter told me about something she saw on Nova the other night... liking or hating vegetables is genetic - with identifiable markers!?! I must research or find this episode of Nova. Perhaps I have judged picky eaters too harshly. Normally I'm perfect, but maybe I have been wrong...
BTW - she loves veggies, so it wasn't a feable attempt at bullshit.
We have only seen Doubt (and I liked it) but I/we really want to see the others! We don't get time to see movies that often so that's a factor!
Have you seen the animated adult cartoon, The Triplets of Bellville? It was pretty good. The strange thing is you don't need to turn on the English subtitles and won't miss a thing.
GKL- I just added it. I imagine you'll be watching a lot of movies these days. Let me know if I can help.
