R.I.P. Bea Arthur 1922-2009...

"After being in the business for such a long time,
I've done everything but rodeo and porno." - Bea Arthur

Say what you want about her, but she was a funny lady
who didn't seem to take herself too seriously.

I just wrote about Bea Arthur myself. She was one of the best in my opinion.

She lived a very long, very interesting life. She made a lot of people happy, even if it just was for a half hour at a time.

Yes, she was very funny. One of her best lines from Maude...

When asked how she got a black eye she replied..."I was jumping rope without wearing a bra."

She was a great ole broad -- in the very best sense of the word.

R.I.P. Thanks for the laffs.

She was a funny funny dame. I went to see her one woman show a few years back and it was funny and a really great evening out.

Both of my parents were very fond of her. My Mother when I was young, and my Dad once he lived in a facility & got hooked on the Golden Girls in between his Wildlife shows. There was a sense of invincibility about her. ~Mary

I hadn't heard! I loved her in _Mame_. She was in the play and the movie. The movie isn't that good, but she's good in it.

she was terrific - edgy, funny and not afraid to tackle even controversial stuff in a funny way -- remember when Maude had an abortion?

how many people get two major hits in sitcom land

RIP - she will be missed

I remember Bea Arthur being the leader of the The Golden Girls, one of the funnier characters on that show at least...

I liked her a lot. My favorite line and one that I always remember when I think of her was the one Pyzahn wrote about.
