Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I was down at a wedding in Chicago where I think I consumed approximately 78 Old Styles. Despite being a little gassy the next day, I avoided any significant hangover. The wedding was a lot of fun. I happened to be seated at the same table as esteemed blogger Grant Miller and got the chance to meet his lovely wife, Krista. It was weird to have more vegetarians than meat-eaters at our table.
On our way back to Michigan, we passed a sign in Indiana advertising a new housing development called "Avant Gardens". Personally, I'd be embarrassed to live in a place so cheesily named.

I've never had "Old Style," what beer is it closest to in terms of taste? Pabst? Coors? Bud?

Are you sure this was in Chicago??? That sounds more like Berkeley, California.
"Avant Gardens"
Groan.
"Smithers, release the Bau Haus!"
What also must have been weird is the the vegetarians at the table were primarily relegated to eating beans.
So in addition to your gassy morning, was it a gassy evening as well?
78 Old Styles and no hangover? You are a man among men Chris!
There used to be a security firm called "Avante Guard Security" here in Chicago. I pictured an alarm going off and a couple of mimes or performance artists responding to the call.
I lost plenty of brain cells to Old Syle (aka "Old Stool" aka "Dog Style") growing up in and around Chicago. They stopped brewing for a short period and someone bought up Heilmann, so that they could continue inflicting Old Style on another unsuspecting generation.
The mere sight of Grant Miller gives me a hangover.
grant miller gives me gas. pass the beans, please.
Old Style-is it like Old Milwaukee?
