Things I Suck At: Caption Contests...

There are a number of blogs that, from time to time, feature caption contests in which a photo is posted and people compete to come up with the most original caption for it. One of the most prominent is the long-running "Firecrotch Of The Month" contest at The Pop Eye. Every time I see one of these contests it is a sad reminder of just how bad I am at captioning. I present to you a few of my failed entries from various sites. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong:

Oh c'mon! Those are HILARIOUS! Especially the last one. No one likes a large neckhole.

I think you are better than most!

Yeah, these are awesome. You've never even attempted my caption contest, have you? I think you would probably win. Especially since you just used the word "prominent" in the same sentence as my blog.

I suck a caption contests, but I won BeckEye's once. Have faith! These ARE hilarious.

I wish I were more clever but never seem to come up with a funny caption on these things.

You don't even need funny captions. The genius of caption contests is letting your readers do the work for you.

Hahaha! I laughed hard. The kitchen decor one and the lobsters almost killed me. Not literally. Not with a butter knife...

I am the world's WORST caption person for real. Not pretend real like you.

I loved these! I don't have any awards for you, but I'll have a glass of wine in your honor tonight. And I'm pretending to hug you right...now.
Did you feel it? Did you???

I think that it is entirely appropriate for lobsters to fight with butter knives, as long as they wear plastic bibs.

Keep trying, Guy. Practice makes perfect, you know! That's why the lobsters are starting out with butter knives.

I think you did pretty well with the captioning. You induced a few chuckles and even a giggle or two out of me at least.
