Sullivan's Travels...

I'm way behind when it comes to seeing old, classic movies. Today, while home sick, I watched "Sullivan's Travels" based on a recommendation from Jeff Dowd, the guy I posted about earlier.

A lot of times humor doesn't age well, but this movie had me laughing out loud quite a bit. It does a great job of combining witty satire with gags and other physical comedy. If you're not normally into older comedies, but are willing to give one a chance, this would be a good one.

Do they do that talking a mile a minute thing? I love that in some of the old movies, rapid fire witty banter, I'm all about it!

Not to sound like Netflix recommendations but if you liked this then you may also like:
You Can't Take It With You
and
My Man Godfrey

and anything written by Preston Sturges is terrific.

How much of "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" did you see in this? Did the Coens borrow a little, or did they borrow a bunch?

i love this movie
Veronica Lake is great --- her only great part and she has no name

you should watch some other Preston Sturges classics like

Miracle of Morgan's Creek
Christmas in July
Hail the Conquering Hero
Unfaithfully Yours (with a gorgeous Linda Darnell)
The Palm Beach Story
The Lady Eve

and many others. you seem the same character actors popping up

Sturges is one of my favorites and most of this stuff from the 40s is excellent. He is quite an interesting character.
